Being filled Perf.Pass.Ptc. plhrow pleroo to fill, to fill with something; to fully possess, to be fully influenced
Perfect emphasis: present result of past action: past action-they rejected God so God delivered them over to depraved mind--& here is present result of being turned over to a depraved mind.
Being fully filled or fully influenced
Passive voice—These turned over to a depraved mind receive being filled with these things—being fully influenced by them
Participle – used to denote that this occurs throughout history! & when enough people are filled with these things—national catastrophe

Being fully possessed with all
Described in the first 4 nouns
unrighteousness,
wickedness,
greed,
malice,

being fully influenced with all unrighteousness
How would you describe this to someone at work or social life?
Greek word adikia adikia is translated in so many different ways in English bible.
Iniquity, evil doer, unjust, unrighteousness, dishonest, false, wickedness, sin, evil, wrong, & harm.
Each of these English words are used to convey the idea found in this one Greek word.

The root of this noun is from a judicial setting!
Fundamental to orderly life, orderly society is grasping what is just or unjust, what is right or what is wrong.
The depraved mind does not grasp what is just or right.
Therefore depraved mind is filled with injustice
Luke 18:6 And the Lord said,
"Hear what the unrighteous judge said;
KJ & NIV hear what the unjust judge said;
One thing we want of a judge—is that he understands justice

Rom. 6:13 and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
And when they reach the point of being filled with this unrighteousness they use the members of their bodies for perversion! Depravity!
The way people speak today…what comes out of their mouths is also from a depraved mind:
James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.
First the body, now the tongue

What is important here is to remember this is our condition before regeneration:
Job 4:17 Can mankind be just before God.
& the answer is no, but here God gives them over to uncontrolled unrighteousness
Job 9:2 how can a man be in the right before God?
He can’t & God gives them over to unsatisfied unrighteousness.
Job 15:14 Or he who is born of a woman that he should be righteous?

Being filled with injustice, now next one:
wickedness ponhria poneria used in NT for sexual immorality--from fornication, to adultery to sexual perversions ---
The depraved mind is obsessed w/immorality!
This word emphasis physical satisfaction!
So in these first two: filled with injustice & filled with immorality

Filled with greed –covetousness; Greek word is used to describe inordinate desires.
Basic meaning: to desire more—more & more,
it describes the condition of the soul that is never satisfied, never content;
not just of money but anything, everything of which man desires more & more.
This word describes the state of mind!
Greed, more & more
It describes insatiability—to the point of destruction.

Two Principles on Greed
1. The point you don’t want to miss here is that this word describes a force that controls the desires of a person…a driving force—that the person just has to have more.
The Greek word carries the idea of an animals appetite—the emphasis is on the having, the desire of possessing & nothing about how!
Whatever is necessary to possess is the impact of this word. Cheat, rob, steal, con, or tax.

2. Take note that this is the third destructive force mentioned:
We have seen how sexual perversion has accompanied the fall & decline of nations through history, well,
another is debt! & the American people are in uncontrollable debt, our nation’s debt is mind boggling & our political leaders seem oblivious to what this means.
Greed—drives so much of America; from people to politicians
Greed…greed…
Greed for money, power, things, security – be taken care of from womb to grave & then have everything you desire between womb & grave…

Filled with all malice
KJ maliciousness NIV depravity
Greek word kakia kakia from /root kakos -bad, our word means:
Depraved, depravity--
This word emphasis the mindset of a depraved mind; while poneria -
Translated wickedness…immorality is the active outcome –
this word describes the being of a person…

1. This word describes the person as being evil
Evil here refers to being morally depraved!
We have seen that The Evil is any distortion of the Gospel
But here we have evil as a distortion of morality & of thinking
2. Evil goes along with perversion, as in homo./lesb. being a perversion & therefore an abomination.
Why is this perversion an abomination to God?
Perversion & Evil actually change a person
For example, Grace does not change the personality of a person,
but when a person gets into evil, you have an actual personality change.

3. And the change of evil does not stop with personality, but change within the soul, it effects the way one thinks. The strife & discord, from perversion & evil is the most destructive thing in human psych.
4. So perversion, & evil are detrimental to a person’s entire makeup. Their thinking is adversely effected in so many areas; esp. morally, socially and judicially -- that is in the area of justice, of right & wrong.

28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,
29 being filled with all injustice, immorality, greed, evil;
Three aspects of depraved mind:
Thought Motive Action
Thought: injustice/anti-justice; & evil
Motive: greed
Action: immorality

Full of envy,
murder,
strife,
deceit,
malice;
they are gossips

Full of envy/jealousy
The Power, control, destruction of Jealousy!
Jealousy
I. Source of Jealousy/Envy
(1) the first thing to know about jealousy is that jealousy is a sin, but it is more than just a sin.
(2) Jealousy/Envy comes right out of Satan’s Lie
My self worth is made up of my performance + Others Opinion of me.
& Jealousy springs up when your performance is not what you desire, yet another’s performance is superior to yours or people’s opinion of them is higher than of you! Jealousy arises in your mindset

(3) Jealousy/envy is vital part of the immune system of the flesh nature.
That’s right, Jealousy is a natural protector of self. & like any good immune system when Jealousy senses that self is threatened it rushes to the defense.
& Jealousy feels threatened when any advantage is given to another.

2. Jealousy/Envy as an Immune System
(1) As an Immune System of flesh self; Jealousy is obsessed with self, & others– comparing, looking at what others have!
(2) Jealousy looks at self, & then at what others have & compares self with others. Jealousy feels threatened & then in defense of self, makes a rival out of anyone who might have some advantage; real or perceived.
(3) But jealousy is like AIDS—in protecting the flesh self, Jealousy destroys you. Jealousy eats away at every part of flesh self.

(4) Prov. 14:30 A tranquil heart is life to the body, But jealousy is rottenness to the bones.
(5) while most other sins have some pleasure associated w/them, some temporary satisfaction, Jealousy/envy has no pleasure! There is no pleasure in J-E, only destruction
(6) Jealousy destroys your enjoyment of any blessing that you may receive from God. You cannot enjoy husband, wife, even children; or your work, even friendships are destroyed by jealousy/envy. & of jealousy destroys your ability to enjoy things! Jealousy can destroy a marriage, a friendship; family.
S of S 8:6-7 Lord is not in original text: omitted in KJ & NIV

(7) No one admits to Jealousy/envy; it is so base & petty, that no one admits to being jealous
No one ever envy’s an envious person, that is no one envies a person destroyed by jealousy/envy
3. Jealousy/envy must be in control
(1) You sense self doubt & insecurity, breeds jealousy & so you turn to control to counter these
(2) & here is the kicker or danger: the more you turn to control to combat your jealousy, the more you lose control: that is: the more you turn to jealousy to control your insecurity – the more you actually lose control!

4. Major observations on Jealousy
remember that jealousy/envy comes from flesh
(1) Flesh nature resents what others have, that others have or get things or advantages that it does not have—
(2) Jealousy arises inside, because flesh nature is not satisfied with what you have!
That is, flesh-nature is never satisfied with self, never satisfied with who they are or what they have! Most Christians who suffer from jealousy are in denial of this suffering problem! & therefore they never allow Holy Spirit to take care of it. This is where 1 John 1:9 comes in.

(3) Jealousy/envy cause you to feel threatened by the advantages of others,
therefore causing you to oppose & to dislike the fact that others have something you do not have Jealousy reasons, in your mind, that those advantages, those prosperities that others have make that person to be superior to you, better than you.—This is not true, of course but mindset of jealousy is so convinced.

5. Jealousy demands exclusive devotion & is intolerant of rivalry, whether that rivalry is real or imaginary.
6. Jealousy is based upon values, whatever it is that you value, you will be jealousy of those who have it & you don’t. esp. of those close to you; friends, family.
This is true in the material world & it is true in the spiritual.
If you value money: jealous of those who have it
If you value success – jealous of those who are successful

If you value beauty—Jealous of those who are more attractive than you; & if you are a man then you are Jealous of those who marry someone more attractive than your wife
If you value spiritual things then you are jealous of those who are more Spiritual/religious. than you. They know more, they do more, etc.
More things which cause Jealousy to rise up to protect flesh self:
Money, things, success, praise—Jealosy cannot stand it when it hears someone else being praised or congratulated---it needs to say something about itself. Power, accomplishments

7. Historically jealousy was the motivation of the religious crowd to crucify Jesus Christ.
Matt. 27:18 For he Pilate knew that because of envy/jealousy they religious crowd had delivered Him up. To be crucified
& in Acts 5:17 High Priest delievered over the apostles to authorities out of jealousy.
Jealousy from Religion has caused & is causing more violence & death throughout history. Islamic religion is motivated by Jealousy to kill all infidels; to kill all who do not adhere to Islamic religion & esp. any of those who follow after Jesus.

Most religious people, most legalistic people are extremely jealous. & the expression that jealousy is to demand that everyone agree with them or be punished.
The Jews were so hardened against the truth of the gospel—being by faith alone in Jesus as Messiah alone, that God knew one final way to entice the Jew to believe in Jesus was to arouse a jealousy in them of the Gentiles being saved by faith alone.
Rom. 11:11 &14

8. Jealousy comes from our flesh nature, sin nature, but as a protector of our flesh nature, jealousy is so volatile. Jealousy is always intensified with evil
Therefore jealousy/envy are always found in list of intensified evil.
James 3:14 …lie against /truth in denial of jealousy
16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.
There is disorder in your life, & breeds every categ. of evil.

1 Cor. 3:3 for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?
Jealousy appears in list of works of flesh:
Gal. 5:19-21; Titus 3:3
Jealousy is easily aroused therefore we must always be on guard
1 Tim. 6:4

9. Prevention of Jealousy/envy
Spiritual Love is the prevention of Jealousy in the soul and life of believer.
1 Cor. 13:4 Love is not jealous!
10. But what of the inner impact of Jealousy? Jealousy/envy over a period of time can build a strong hold in the souls of believers.
So what do we do about these strong holds of jealousy? Is the bible Sufficient to solve even these problems?
2 Cor. 10:3-5

Murder
1. Murder is the unlawful killing of another human being. Murder is in contrast with lawful taking of another human’s life as in capital punishment, war & self-defense.
Murder is depriving another individual of his freedom of life.
T. Jefferson wrote in our Constitution—everyone has right of life, liberty & pursuit of happiness, he first wrote property…
a husband, for exam. Has authority over his wife, but not over her life, & liberty! These are hers from God.

2. Murder is the strongest immune defenses of self! When flesh self feels so threatened, & slander, intimidation, money, when all else fails, flesh self murders! Eliminates the one it feels threatened by or hates!
3. Murder is a sin! A crime in almost all societies through history.
Matt. 5:21 "You have heard that the ancients were told, 'You Shall Not Commit Murder & 'Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.'
In societies where greed has taken over, murder becomes the norm/standard to control people as in history of the Huns….
Or when societies lose control as in part of history of Rome.

4. The origin of murder is found in GJ 8:43 Why do you not understand what I am saying/teaching? Jesus is teaching It is because you cannot hear My word. Not audibly, but hear so as to understand, & in next vs JC tells them why they cannot comprehend His teaching.
44 "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. Satan’s desires—to be dominate, & his policy is evil, & going along with his desires, & policy –action of murder He Satan was a murderer from the beginning, why was he a murderer? and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.

5. historical look at murder & evil
The first & more obvious is Cain murdering his brother Abel
1 John 3:12 not as Cain, who was of the evil one, Satan and slew -murdered his brother. With the sacrificial knife And for what reason did he murder him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother's were righteous.
Here again we have murder & evil together!
What were the deeds of Cain?
Offering to God his own works instead of the offering of Christ & when that was rejected—murder & you combine these—you have murder as a result of evil!

So the original murder in human race –followed after Satan’s desire
When it says in GJ 8:44 that Satan was a murderer from the beginning, it was referring to more than just Cain murdering Abel
It was Satan’s desire to kill the human race inside the garden.
And God gave Satan the idea of murder when God said, in the day you eat from it dying, you shall die. Death was not known since the restoration of the earth

This gave Satan all he needed to murder this man & woman by enticing them to eat of the tree.
& so Satan has been a murderer from the beginning!
& when that did not end all matters because of Grace of God to give life to Adam & Eve –before they left the garden…Satan enticed Cain to commit the first murder in human race outside of the garden!
In Jude 11 we have another reference. to the murder by Cain: woe to them who have gone /way of Cain. What is the way of Cain?
Evil—demonstrated by Murder!
Murder is a sin, a crime & evil Cain was the first criminal in human history:
