Back to Rom. 2:7 to those, on the one hand, according to perseverance in good work of Jesus Christ, then as bel.s in good work of HS
Seek goal, objective
for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life;
for glory Where does this come from? Paul is talking about Judgment from wrath of God, so where does glory fit in?
Rom. 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Sin is in conflict with the glory of God
& must be taken care of –this is at issue in Sal.; Justification; Reconciliation; Since man has fallen short of Glory of God,
That is of the radiance of the essence of God.
What can man do to measure up to the glory of God?
Nothing!
Glory cannot come out of that which has no glory!
So all man can do is to receive glory of God from God!
& how can man receive glory of God from God?
Through good work of Jesus Christ on the cross, received by faith alone!

And honor What is distinction of glory & honor?
Greek: honor, respect, reverence, esteem;
Glory: brilliance! Radiance; & when used of God or w/moral idea – best represented by whiteness of light!
Honor less splendid than glory but with a heavier idea of substance in that honor refers to discharge of duty, or conduct.
Glory comes or is revealed in excellence
Honor comes or is revealed in execution
Glory is more identified with everything that has public interest –to all mankind…Glory of God Rom. 1:23
Honor is more limited, confined to the one connected to it!

To be saved, to attain the Righteousness of God, must be done in an honorable manner & trying to attain God’s Righteousness by works of the law is without honor.
Those in Rom. 2:7 seek to attain God’s Righteousness; Sal. with honor
& the only way they can do this is not by their works but by Anticipating – persevering in good work of faith.
Receiving Sal. in or with honor

for glory and honor and now immortality,
Greek word refers to that which is incorruptible
Again, we will let Scripture interpret Scripture:
2 Tim. 1:10 but now has been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,
Again, this vs. makes it clear that immortality is through Jesus Christ, revealed so, through the gospel.

God is E-L
Therefore if we desire an eternal relationship with God, then we are going to need His life; Eternal Life.
This is one of the clearest indicators that we cannot save ourselves…how can that which is mortal turn itself into Eternal Life?
It can’t
Only God can give His Life
First lets see what Paul says about Eternal-Life & receiving Eternal-Life.
Rom. 5:21; 6:23
GJ 3:15-16; & 36 6:40 & 47

Vs 7-8 God is going to render …
Vs 7 On /one hand, He will render to those who will depend on faith alone in Christ alone, not turning to their own works of good who by perseverance in good work by Jesus Christ seek for glory & honor & immortality, He will render Eternal Life.
8 but to the ones on the other hand those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation.
